The non-profit organization Der Antonyme Salon has set itself the task of debating the continuing influence of the achievements of avant-garde and autonomous art of the 20th century in the present day through regular curatorial projects, lectures, discussion panels, and publications. The starting point and point of reference for this is the oeuvre of Anton Henning. For around thirty years, he has been engaging with classical modernism in paintings and drawings, as well as in sculptures and other forms of work, like few others: he takes up the possibilities developed in it, continues them, enhances and connects them, and goes beyond them. Henning's work, which is represented in museums and renowned collections worldwide, thus provides an excellent basis for reflection and discussion about what modernism was and what it perhaps still is.

In order to encourage deeper, more personal exchanges, we occasionally invite lovers of this multi-layered, exhilarating art form to smaller salon-style gatherings. These may take the form of a discussion of a particular image or a specific topic, a free-flowing conversation over a meal or a cup of tea. Sometimes we begin by focusing on the experiences of a selected speaker. The opportunity to engage in conversation can also be crowned with a drink based on our edition gin.
Our guests always enjoy accompanying and inspiring the open Antonymen Salon during Gallery Weekend in the spring and Berlin Art Week in the fall. We are grateful for every single one of these wonderful encounters and the in-depth conversations they inspire, as well as for the delightful and charming comments in our guest book!
